GRAINCORP
STATEMENT OF SUPPORT
GrainCorp supports renewable energy and the transition to a low-carbon future, including through our own emissions reduction commitments. We believe this transition must be delivered in a way that protects highly productive agricultural land and safeguards the long-term resilience of Australia’s food and grain supply chains.
The Dookie and Goulburn Valley region is a significant grain-producing area, contributing to domestic food production, export markets and regional economies. Planning decisions affecting areas of this significance should be grounded in robust agricultural, environmental and hydrological assessment, and informed by genuine consultation with landholders and local communities.
We support a principled, place-based planning approach that ensures renewable energy infrastructure is located in areas of lower agricultural impact wherever possible.
The energy transition and food production are both national priorities and with thoughtful planning, they should complement rather than compromise one another.
Growers in this region are also participating in GrainCorp Next, our initiative to create a low-emissions, end-to-end supply chain for canola oil – demonstrating that agriculture is not standing still on climate action, but leading practical solutions alongside industry.
